My current and most used system is running Yosemite with the Chimera bootloader. I'm keen to move to El Capitan booting with clover.

My motherboard has Intel and ASMedia USB 3.0 controllers and I have found that the ASMedia USB ports are not as stable as the Intel ones. Sometimes if I leave a USB device in one of the ASMedia ports the machine will freeze and I have to perform a hard re-boot.

Doed El Capitan handle the ASMedia USB controller better then Yosemite? does anyone have any experience getting this combo stable?

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I am running 10.11.3 El Capitan

No support OOB so i am using Rehabman GenericUSB3 kext for ASMedia USB 3 Controller (1042)

Its works but there are some caveats...

1) USB 3 Ports only works after a device connected to Port#1 (for me anyway)
2) No devices are visible in 'System Information' connected on the USB3
- This maybe or maybe not be an issue for you, i only use USB3 for external disk and this function works fine. My friend uses USB3 for his DSLR so its an issue as he cannot select the DSLR in applications (i.e. Photoshop)

As for performance, i get around 500MB/s read and 480MB/s write from an external USB SSD (Samsung 850 EVO)
