HI this is my first customac build and i'm using the Unibeast Lion installer. Every time i boot up my computer i get an EBIOS read error: Device timeout Block 0x0 Sectors 0. This appears 4 times each 30-60 second after the other. The 5th time it doesn't appear but goes to the chimera screen.

This is my build:
Mother board GA-Z68A-D3H-B3
GPU AMD RADEON HD 6850
RAM (4x4) GEIL ENHANCE CORSA
CPU Intel core i5 2500k

thanks for the help, Any ideas are appreciated.
I'd also like to know if anyone else gets this problem.

thanks karacho

After playing around with the BIOS I got it to work
I'm pretty glad, I thought that I'd have to live with that problem.

Fine it's working now
It would be nice if you explain short what exactly you did with your BIOS Settings

Thanks for this! I can confirm going into the BIOS --> Integrated Peripherals and set USB Storage Function to Disable fixes the EBIOS read error: Device timeout.

But I'm pretty sure the ablitliiy to boot using a USB stick or USB drive is disabled too!

Below from this page http://www.mysuperpc.com/bios_settings.shtml :
USB Storage Function Enabled: Indicates whether or not USB storage devices such as thumb drives should be detected on boot.

If you wait long enough, 5 minutes, the system will eventually boot after "EBIOS read error: Device timeout" appears.

Other option is to turn-off all USB storage devices before booting.

Hey Thanks Jon V you are awesome. I've been looking how to fix the EBIOS Read Errors for many months. And your advice to disable the USB Storage function worked!! Thanks dude. I think you can still boot since it said it was a legacy mass storage function, sounds like it's support for an older feature. I also took the USB out of the boot order just as a extra precaution. You can always reconfigure the boot order or at boot time use F12 on the Gigatbyte BIOS start up a pick your boot drive.

Thanks again!!!!

The above setting solved the Ebios read error so that my USB storage device "My passport" now appears on the desktop and no longer prevents booting. Chimera no longer shows the USB stick loaded with

Mavericks Install but it does appear on the desktop too. This is an important improvement to my Hackintosh. However I still have something that prevents booting: when my backup internal 3 TB is hooked on the boot process stops with the screen shown on the screenshot attached. When I boot with the backup drive disconnected everything is fine. After boot is complete I connect the backup drive and Time Machine does its job as it is supposed to.

How could I solve that boot problem my backup HD plugged in?

Thanks
