Dual GPU: RX 580 - Can't get past boot screen

Hi there,

I'm hoping someone can help me out since I'm stumped and don't even know where to start.

I recently installed a second Gigabyte RX 580 8gb gaming into my system (multiboot for mining while away from computer). With the second card, I can't seem to get past the boot screen. I've tried booting up with my DVI cable plugged into either GPU as well as the MOBO and still no luck. I have tried running (and re-running) AMD helper with multibeast, but that didn't seem to do anything.

Can someone provide me with guidance on how to troubleshoot this (or what additional information you need)? Cards seem to work on Windows and EthOS.

Hi, same problem on 10.12.6 for me. BTW rx580 + r9-280 works (or even with 2x 280 cards). Tried each rx580 card apart and they work... but not together. I'm going to upgrade to High Sierra on a clone disk to give a try.

I installed High Sierra and it now they rock !!!

10.3.2 + fcpx 10.3.4 :
BruceX test :
Sierra + 1x rx580 : 19sec
High Sierra + 2x rx580 : 12sec

Cinebench OpenGL : now 129k
Luxmark : 30k (15k with single rx580)

What about FCPX perfs ? Do you think they're good ?

im truying reinstalling high sierra

Do you use wahtevergreen.kext and lilu.kext ?

Hi Rackham,
with 1 or 2 rx580 I do use Whatevergreen and Lilu kexts (& high sierra for dual rx580setup)

I also have a 4930k, X79-UP4 and 1 x 580, installed the second one and can't boot
