Sourceforge says this contains malware. Is there another more current tool?

Does anyone knows whats up with this malware warning?

Does that mean it is infected or that it is a false positive and it's o.k. to use?

You can use the DPCI mgr. version attached to this post. Should work without warnings.

I downloaded that and ran ClamXav on it and it reports 2 infected files:
DPCIManager.app--Infection Name: PUA.OSX.DirectHW
DirectHW.kext--Infection Name: PUA.OSX.DirectHW

What is the story with these?

Here is a page that I found that says DirectHW is some sort of adware:
http://www.avgthreatlabs.com/ww-en/virus-and-malware-information/info/osx-directhw/

Is this file actually infected or is this an expected false-positive?

It's a false positive due to the app being able to gain root privileges with kext installation. Sierra has continued to upscale security due to much more new Mac Malware recently. DPCI Mgr. is safe to use.
