Does iBoot not work via USB Dvd drive?

I could've sworn that I installed SL before using iBoot and the very same USB DVD drive. For some reason now when I boot iBoot I get Darwin prompt and no keys and/or boot flags work. It just stays at Darwin prompt. No GUI.

I am seeing the same issue with the "Budget System 1" customac.

USB DVD, boots to darwin boot: prompt, but any entry there has no effect - it redraws the darwin screen with the boot: prompt.

same m11x (r1) im trying this because to be honnast no one has made a decent installation guide to get it on usb
after its on the usb http://www.hackint0sh.org/f217/188641.htm
seems like a good guide but all the guides to get it on usb seem to be using some mac and than backing somethign up
