Does Gigabyte z77 motherboard support PCIe 3.0 x 16?

Hi all,

I'm planning to upgrade my gpu to MSI AMD RX 580 or ASUS AMD Radeon RX580 8GB GDDR5 Graphics Card (DUAL-RX580-O8G) but its a PCIe 3.0 x16 card? will my motherboard support it and will provide the full resolution to it? please let me know. Thanks.

Today is arrived my MSI Armor RX 580 from Amazon. I have tried to make it work with the GA-Z77-DS3H in all possible ways, but the screen is always blank.

If you do an internet search you will find many fail.

Monday I make the return to Amazon.

Many people here have that card working fine with macOS. Have you installed Windows to rule out the possibility that you have a defective card ?

Do you have the latest Lilu.kext and WhateverGreen.kext in EFI/Clover/Kexts/Other?
Also, if you had it enabled in the config.plist, disable any inject nVidia or inject AMD/ATI entries

thanks. I'm thinking for getting the Asus rx580 OC version or the XFX rx 580 Black Edition one. I dont want to spend too much for my old build. just sucks the gtx660 is not working after I install Mojave. Im using the on board intel 4000 now and it works for starcraft 2 but I will need good gpu for photos and videos.
I might pick up a new Monitor. got any advice on that??? maybe a 4k monitor?

Some of the XFX GPUs have ned the ROM flashed to work with Mac OS as they are non-reference. I stay away from that brand. A good 4k monitor, 24", will cost you at least USD$400-$500. A 27" will be twice that. The 24" Dell P2415Q or the 27" version are good.

I have update all kexts and .efi, and config.list is right. The problem is not hacking, but that incompatibility between motherboard and video card because the monitor is alway black (I don't even see the BIOS screen).

With the onboard video card I maked the BIOS upgrade but the last file from Gigabyte is at end 2013, I have tried to change some BIOS settings without success.

Gigabyte let me down. The support for this motherboard has been short.

Make sure you can return the RX 580 and good luck.

XFX should be good, but not the RX 590 that needs flashing with Powercolor BIOS.

Thanks Plain. I bought the Asus card off from EBAY and the seller allows me to return it within a week. So, if someone can provide me the guide to install the kext and get it to work with the card ahead of time would be appreciated. I might get it this week so I want to prepare ahead to get it to work. I'm currently using the onboard Intel 4000 graphic. I need to know how to reverse it to boot using the PCIe GPU...thanks again.
