Some of the problem areas are in code that is not open source.

AFAIK, IOHID drivers are open-source, if it's not IOHID that's causing these problems, then what is?

I was referring to the HD4400 graphics hang in Safari (and probably other apps).

Oh I didn't notice any graphical issues when I installed Sierra... can it also be affecting certain hardware?
