Digi 003R Audio Question.

I am using SL 10.6.7 on my set up.
The onboard audio works fine on its own.

My Digi 003R works well with Pro Tools 9.0.5.
I can play audio through the Digi 003R using Pro Tools.
I can recorde music into Pro Tools using the Digi 003R.

But no other applications that plays audio will play through the Digi 003R to my studio monitors.

When I choose Digidesign HW (003) Firewire in the Sound preferences it does not help.

Any ideas?

I will answer my own questions for others who may come this way.

The 003 must be already powered up when SL boots up.

Once it is booted up. Go into Prefs> Sound and select the 003 Firewire as the Output device and close.

Start iTunes, VLC, Safari... whatever then the Digi CoreAudio Manager will start and connect the 003.
