Well, I rebooted the machine, even though it did not tell me to. It seems to be working now, other than the fact that there's no sound. I've attached the ioreg file.

I'm not sure how to turn off boot loader injection. Is there a way to add "GraphicsEnabler=No" somewhere so that I can boot up the machine and not have to wait to catch it to input the boot flag?
Add it to your /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist

The only other thing I need fixed on this is the sound (at least it's the only thing that I'm aware of) and then I'll have a fully working "hackintosh". Then I'll begin working on a guide for installation on this machine.
Depends on installing patched AppleHDA for your codec (and DSDT patches). Google for 'patch AppleHDA guide' and follow the instructions to collect an audio codec dump from Linux.

The other things I notice about your ioreg:
- power management is not completely implemented. see: http://www.tonymacx86.com/mavericks-laptop-support/111243-power-management-sandy-bridge-ivy-bridge-laptops.html
- no battery status yet (http://www.tonymacx86.com/mavericks-laptop-support/116102-how-patch-dsdt-working-battery-status.html)
- you could use "Rename GFX0 to IGPU" to get better power management for HD4000
- you might get better results with USB3 using AppleUSBXHCI and "7-series USB3 Multiplex" patch.

There is not much you need to know. Just follow the instructions...

Where do you suggest I get the AppleUSBXHCI? I did a google search, and the following link was at the top of the list. Should I use this one?

There is no need to install anything. AppleUSBXHCH is included. Just the DSDT patches I mention...

So Since I have not done an extra partition on this internal hard drive, can I run Linux from an external hard drive in order to accomplish what I need? I know Linux is an operating system. But that's about all I know about it.

Yes, no need to install. Just create an Ubuntu USB and run it direct from the USB.

Ubuntu is currently downloading. I'm doing a google search to figure out how to install it to run directly from a USB, but with no luck. Everything I'm finding tells me how to create a USB Installer, such as what I had to do with the Mavericks USB Installation. Any links you could share that you know of that will assist me?

EDIT!!!!
Never Mind... I found the following link. I'll shut up now.

I found a page that told you how you could "try it" instead of installing it when you booted to the USB.
Yes, it is obvious once you boot it... Sometimes it is best not to over-think things.
