Hey guys, I’m recently trying to build a Big Sur hack on a Dell XPS 15 9500 with OpenCore (Can’t use Clover anyways).
Device details:
CPU: Intel Core i9-10885H (8 Cores 16 Threads)
GPU: Intel Comet Lake UHD (native) + GTX 1650 Ti (disabled via boot-arg)
Sound Card: ALC 289
Hard Disk: Samsung 1TB NVMe
Memory: 32GB
WiFi: Killer WiFi 6 (airportitlwm.kext)

I followed the dortania guide for creating a coffee lake plus / comet lake laptop config.plist (https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/config-laptop.plist/coffee-lake-plus.html), and I think I got all the necessary ACPIs, Kexts, Drivers, and configurations. But for some reason I can’t enter the installer and am instead stuck on a prohibited sign.
Attached is my EFI and DSDT.

It’s quite urgent. Any help would be appreciated!

P.S. I hope someone could actually look inside the EFI.

Best regards

boot verbose to see what the issue is, post a pic here

Hi Feartech, sorry for the late reply.
They are attached below.

For some random reason, the repository on GitHub doesn’t seem to have this issue (This is the link), but it is too messed up. Maybe I could try removing entries/files from that EFI until the problem occurs, so I would know which entry is causing the Problem.

With some hardcore tinkering and the process of elimination, I fixed this problem! The key is in USBMap - I used the wrong Model, and changing it so that it corresponds with my SMBios gets me further down the verbose. Nevertheless, I am now encountering another problem. According to the WhateverGreen Framebuffer guide, the device-id of my computer is natively supported (0x9BC4), so I filled in neither the AAPL ig-platform-id nor the device-id. But then I got stuck on a couple of lines after IOConsoleUsers: gIOScreenLockState 3, hs 0, bs 0, now 0, sm 0x0 (the WhateverGreen thing). So I changed my AAPL and device-id in DeviceProperties to 0x12345678 (invalid) and added agdpmod=pikera. This time I got over the apple logo and went into a gray screen with a cursor, but no language picker or installer came up. It’s just stuck there. The sound, trackpad, even ambient light sensor are all working, though. Here is the new EFI.

Does anyone have any ideas how to solve this? BIOS? Config? Kext? ACPI? Installer app per se?

One thing I want to point out is that I don’t like the 0x12345678 method and it doesn’t work anyways. So in the stuck case, I think the graphics card did load - brightness could change, etc. It’s just the installer page not coming up.

I did. Is the problem due to the fact that I created the installer under macOS? I will update a new EFI. Could you take a look inside and look for problems? I also feel that the order of my kexts is not right.
