Could use some more expert help from the community please! especially xps 14 l401x l501x l701x hackintoshers!

Getting KP's on boot up. this is after successful installing osx and creating the user account.

Versions used.

OSX ML 10.8.2
Unibeast ML 1.7.0
Multibeast ML 5.2.1

How to get unibeast to boot to osx setup
- use switches -v -f -F

After creating user account and reboot with unibeast usb, and select the fresh installed osx partition

Used multibeast to install ln2macs network kext and chameleon. thats it. didnt want to mess it up too early.

the following is the kp screen, using only -v verbose switch.

hope some more advanced people can help out. cheers

The xps 14 and the xps l501x/l701x series are a good premium machine that still rocks today, and have access to one for now so been curious if the recent updated to unibeast and multibeast osx any further.

From dell site - http://www.dell.com/us/dfh/p/xps-14/pd

Here's what they said - http://www.notebookcheck.net/Dell-XPS-14.39590.0.html

Expect dell to update the firmware to work with windows-8.

i'll update this 1st post if any more useful progress.

MACHINE SPECS l401x

i7 740qm - looks like generation 1. pre sandy bridge.
8gb ddr3 @ 1333mhz
2gb nvidia gf gt 425m
lga 1156 aka intel generation 1 i3/5/7 cpu series

Is there an app to use on windows/linux to spit out the hardware details?

You need to setup for power management:
- you're using iMac 11,1 system def... does that make sense for your machine? (what are the specs?)
- you need patched AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext from MB
- you need a proper SSDT (depends on CPU)
- you need to be sure Scope (\PR) in DSDT contains Processor objects
- DropSSDT=Yes, GenerateCStates/GeneratePStates=No in org.chameleon.Boot.plist

That is the formula for Sandy Bridge. If this is something other then it will be different...

Thanks dude, it looks like a pre sandy bridge, is the formula very similar?

its an intel i7 740qm cpu. for other details on machine specs what app for windows or linux to do a system report? i'll post back here again.

I'm not familiar with pre-Sandy...

thanks. i'll try do some more research to get this dell xps 14 l401x working.

my basic understanding is if you can get as much of the dsdt and ssdt patched with the right patches,

you wont need to think too much about adding/deleting patched kexts and so on later?

bump... help!?

update

once installed accounts setup. and chimera/chameleon installed onto the hd, i get kp on boot.
different story if i just boot with unibeast usb.

booted with unibeast and -v -F
most of the basic functions work but no audio.
not sure what audio to pick from multi beast. voodoo or alc realtek?

booted without unibeast,
and -v -F get kp
-v -x -f -F safe mode limited basic functions.

the main problem now is getting it to boot without unibeast usb.

update - cpu - for gen 1 i7 intel clarksfields

someone test please?

Hello everyone!
I was having all the same issues as you guys. After spent some time trying to fix this without success I ve tried to talk to cosmo1t, VoodooTSCSync developer, who immediately agreed to help. After some tests he send a new version to me and the good news are: it`s working! All cores, no KPs! Pretty good, right?

For i7 740QM just use IOCPUNumber value of 7 on Info.plist inside your kexts and its done. There is no need to use any busratio or cpus flags on boot, so if you have it in your org.chameleon.Boot.plist just get rid of it.
