Hey guys, this is a preemptive strike. The Hackintosh looks hot and I want in. I've seen some reviews where my box works - mostly. Mine is a stock Dell Precision T3400 with an upgraded video card.

I'm mostly concerned with the MoBo; When searching the DSDT Database I don't see anything for the T3400 and, of course, Dell has obscured the real manufacturer and model number; hardware interrogation returns a board name: 0TP412.

Q1: Which, if any, DSDT file is appropriate for this box?
---

Also, it looks as if Broadcom NICs are problematic viewtopic.php?f=19&t=16684.

Q2: Is there a correct kext file for Broadcom NICs?
---

In the event there are additional questions, I'm not aware that I should be asking, I was hoping T3400 owners could share some notes they've taken along the way. Presently I have Linux installed on this box; here's the lspci output:

T3400 owner here; graphics card: stock nvidia quadro fx 570

re: broadcom NIC- google 'best wireless cards hackintosh" or something like that.... the build it yourself option works great, although I can't get into the Apple App store yet (can't sign in) even though I can get into every other apple service.... I'm hoping an ethernet card will help with this (don't currently have one)...

re: DSDT - I don't use one... I dont think there is one for a t3400 stock motherboard (x38 intel chipset, lga 755)

Mountain Lion, OF NOTE:

in order to get mountain lion, I had to
1. do lion,
2. then - from within lion- install mountain lion via the file i downloaded from app store (on another machine)
3. boot with ML Unibeast using: generatepstates=yes generatecstates=yes mach_kernel -v

I am installing it now.... I had it before but i messed something up with the multibeast install i think -- didnt download the FakeSMC kext I think.... so redoing it...fingers crossed.

Hi kmrk30,

I've successfully installed ML on mine last night.

How did you get on? Is your built fully working? Did you add Network and/or Sound card?

Any luck with AppStore and iCloud? They are not working here: "Unable to sign in" error.

I sympthize with your quest - Dell is rather closed mouth on who and what is inside on the MB - but first I think one needs to know whats inside to box ...or under the hood.

If you have windows still running I suggest you install / run / print out this utility "EVEREST Free Edition 2.20" which you can get from
majorgeeks - google search
Everest - the utility developed by Lavasys has been acquired by FinalWire - they have a free 30 day trial for the new product.

This inspection utility which is newer, Resource tool for inspecting hardware on you system
http://www.piriform.com/speccy

These programs should interpert the hardware to the subsystem level and should give you information as to the chip types and other information such as drives - ram spec's etc - very helpfull when looking for kexts.

We also have a list websites for checking info on ..http://legacy.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2130

Their is a slim chance that someone has a dsdt file listed "elsewhere on the net" or you can build you own .....see this

In order to install Mountain Lion on a T3400, you need access to a Mac, and you should buy Mountain Lion ($20) from App Store.
Download it and use UniBeast to install from USB. Check out the guide at: http://www.unibeast.com/

As for the broadcom nic, it's fully supported by this driver: https://github.com/adlan/BCM5722D
I've attached the compiled kext which I'm currently using (as of today, new install).

Your video card is supported OOB.

The only problem is AppStore/iCloud, which you can fix by using EFI Studio 1.1. Just generate an EFI string for internal nic, after you install the BCM kext, and use it on the boot plist (device-properties).

That's it.. Works wonders.

edit: clarifying appstore fix: chameleon/chimera EthernetBuiltIn simply doesn't work with this setup.

I've made both DSDT and SSDT for T3400 from theirs dumps off A14 bios (latest from dell).
edit: tested, working better than expected. hpet, rtc, tmr fixes, sbus, lpcb, etc.. :)

Have you checked w dell support - as they my have this released for you model computer as an experimental version - many time they don't update the BIOS file list to include the latest and greatest so to speak.

If you do go ahead always backup the old bios file

If somebody has some info on getting Mavericks on this machine I would be so grateful.

I've been on this for 10 hours and cant get the installer to boot.

I am trying to install Mavericks via Unibeast on Precision T3400. I cannot get the installer to boot. I get the apple screen with the spinny, then BLACK SCREEN!!

Precision T3400
C2D2.66Ghz
1Gb RAM
128Gb SSD
NVidia 8400GTS

The last line I get is:
ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin: :registerLPCDriver - WARNING - LPC device initialization failed: C-state power management
I am on Bios A14. I've tried all the bootflags OVER AND OVER.

Maverics might not run on this configuration - after all, Apple dropped all of the socket 775 versions from the "10.9 will run on this Mac" list.
