0xDA2 original value = 2
And I set it back to 2 and tried the same thing and it worked, but only for a little while and then I set it back to 0.
Be interested to see if yours does the same.
of interest to us Cfg Lock.png

from the image:
It seems that there are only two values for cfg lock: 0 and 1.

I was about to do this 4k tweak and I got really scared haha. Both of the variables returned 1, which is weird because I'm on Dell 9020 SFF BIOS A25 (version recommended in the guide).

I might try to add the Clover configuration and see if it boots and works, without writing the UEFI

EDIT: It booted but there was glitches everywhere.
EDIT2: Dumping the BIOS and inspecting it is only for Windows :(

Do you think those numbers the variables return could be normal or are they really from other varilables?

Not certain but you should treat it as an important warning flag. Take a look at the instructions later in the thread for dumping the BIOS and check the details.

May I ask that you post your BIOS dump here so I can take a look at the differences. (But I'm on hols for 5 weeks and will only occasionally get back on here).

edit: if you are not able to dump the BIOS my advice would be to stop, if the settings are wrong they could be referring to other settings and if that's the case, any changes might require a new BIOS flash but that could be a complicated process which does not follow the normal method.

I will have to find the time to install Windows in another disk, so will report back!

Thanks - I think we might learn something here but not sure what.

It might also point to the fact the UEFI settings are not held in the upgradable BIOS but on the machines firmware, and therefore possible to have two machines with identical BIOS versions but with different default settings for a range of BIOS settings (some shown as editable entries in the BIOS but also other hidden ones which we or the factory might set using a special boot process).
I think our machines may have identical BIOS's but diferent UEFI settings.

The other setting is more likely to have other significant consequences - I think the config.plist needs fewer ticks once you have "Unlocked" whatever it is that the other setting unlocks

The BIOS dumping was a pain but educational
