Hi all,

I was using a 2014 MacBook Pro but the screen broke and the replacement is very expensive. I saw an interesting ad for a Dell Latitude 5590 laptop. The main features are:
  • 15.6 inch Full HD display with 1920x1080 resolution
  • Intel Core i5-8350U processor @ 1.70 GHz
  • 8GB of RAM (I'll upgrade it to 16 or 24GB)
  • 256GB solid state drive
  • 802.11ac Wi-Fi | Bluetooth 4.2
(Rest of specs here: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1397920-REG/dell_4wff0_latitude_5590_i5_8250u_8gb.html/specs)

I want to know if is hackintoshable as it is. I've read this is a good laptop to install Hackintosh. Will I need to replace any hardware, perhaps the network card?

Should I use opencore or clover?

My first experience with OS X was 12 years ago with Asus Netbook Eee PC 1005HA (Atom processor). I was able to install Snow Leopard and it worked like a charm.

Now I will be more than happy if I can install any OS X version from Sierra to Ventura in this machine. Please let me know if you think it could be a could purchase, it only costs €180, so I won't go broke if it doesn't work. I've seen that it's also very compatible with Debian and I also need Windows to run Autodesk Inventor. I was using vmware in the macbook pro but for this machine I would probably need dual boot.

What OS X would be the best and simplest for this machine?

I'd appreciate any kind of help you can provide, thanks a bunch :)

I forgot to mention:

Processor is quad-core i5 8th generation, Kaby Lake. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620

Regards

I'm reading the dortania's opencore guide and it seems opencore is the way to go, my only experience in Hackintosh in the past was using Chameleon, I suppose this is not in use anymore.
Also, the opencore's guide talks about security concerns and bootcamp, both interesting to me.

Thank you, things have changed a lot (for better) since I used Chameleon 12 years ago. I'm still not sure about buying this laptop. My only hope is someone in this forum telling me it is a good choice for Hackintosh.
Regards.
