How can you use the i7-950 with a Z77 motherboard ? Not possible to use a first gen i7 with a Z77 socket 1155 board.

Your motherboard and CPU are not compatible. Please source a compatible motherboard if you don't want to replace your CPU.

i7-950 requires a X58 motherboard to work. Z77 motherboards require 2nd or 3rd generation Intel CPUs (i3/i5/i7 2xxx or 3xxx) to work.

maybe I got it wrong...
it is i7-3770K

Take your CPU out of the socket, clean off the thermal paste and see what the CPU info says and then post it here.
