CustoMac Desktop USB Fixes - 10.11+ Reference

Out of curiosity, I have a Series 9 board - does it matter if I put the kexts in EFI/EFI/CLOVER/Kexts/10.11, or is it better to put them in S/L/E?

I think the new consensus is to install them to L/E. Use KextBeast or similar

Edit**
I still prefer to put them in EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other

Okay, thanks...

I still prefer to put them there too as it keeps my L/E and S/L/E "virgin," plus if i need to rebuild my computer I can just copy over my EFI folder over really easily... hmm, I wonder how or if it affects reliability...

Thanks!

I have an Asus Z97 Sabertooth Mark 1 motherboard and I installed the FakePCIID.kext and FakePCIID_XHCIMux.kext to /Library/Extensions/ with KextBeast.

These kexts don't do anything for me still two USB 3.0 working at the back who were already working without any kexts. The other USB 3.0 ports at the back and on the front of my computer case are not working.

It would be very nice if someone could help me I have no idea what I can do. :|

FakePCIID_XHCIMux is only one piece of the puzzle.

About x99 chipset any solution ?

Thanks

GA-Z97X-UD5D with iMac 15,1 here: Everything works!!

I just copied the two kext in the efi partition (kexts/10.11) und made this

"and to add patch in Clover Configurator -> Kernel and Kext patches:

Name: AppleUSBXHCIPCI
Find: 83BD8CFEFFFF10
Replace: 83BD8CFEFFFF16"

Clover patch is mandatory, without this I don't have full access to all the usb 2/3 ports.

Thanks!

I am confused, I have a Serie 8 MB (MSI z87) and I still don't have USB 2/3 working as it should

the thread says:

FakePCIID.kext and FakePCIID_XHCIMux.kext enables full support. Install to /Library/Extensions.
https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-Fake-PCI-ID
https://bitbucket.org/RehabMan/os-x-...i-id/downloads
so first where do I take FakePCIID.kext and FakePCIID_XHCIMux.kext from? first or second link? (I took from the 1st one) then where do I put them? the thread says in S/L/E using a kext utility but then some say to put it under EFI/kext/ 10.10 and 10.11 or in others. I placed them in others

So far, still no joy... so where do I download the kexts from? 1st or second link? where do I put them? 10.10, 10.11 or other folder in EFI? Or in S/L/E? once the kexts are in the proper location, do I still need to do something?

The USB issue under El Capitan is still very confusing to me :(

Thanks for the help :)

The two links lead to the same download location (read the README).

Kexts should be installed to /S/L/E or /L/E.
