I'm trying to make a custom DSDT for ASUS TUF Z370-Pro Gaming board. I've followed a few guides but they all seem to rely solely on patches made by other people with no explanation how the patches were created. The first part was easy, extracted the dsdt at the clover bootscreen, and have been able to load it into maciASL and even compile it with no errors (but I didn't make any changes to it). I downloaded the ACPI 6.2 specification and found it intimidating, even with several years of experience with x86 assembly. So my questions are:

How do I know what to modify for USB, nvme, etc? The DSDT has a list of at least 200+ elements with names that don't offer much insight as to what they do.

If I incorrectly modify the DSDT (but it still compiles), do I risk damaging my motherboard or any connected hardware?
