Hi,

I recently installed the CUDA driver on my otherwise stable 10.13.6 (17G8030) system. As far as I know, Premiere is the only app I use that uses CUDA.

However when I run Premiere and After effects at the same time I'm guaranteed a Kernel panic within 5 minutes:

Removing CUDA solves the problem, and I can run the system fine without opening Premiere/AE. Wondering if anyone has stability issues with latest CUDA? (OR with latest web drivers)? I'm currently going backwards through the versions to see if there's a stable one.

Any help appreciated!

Thanks.

I support your problem. I have a panic every 2-3 days randomly with my gtx 780 ti.
BUT! In the Premiere, you can use OpenCL instead of CUDA.
I have not found a solution yet.

Running badly written drivers result in such issues. You can't do anything unless NVIDIA gets back to work and fixes the drivers.

Just wanted to chime in here and say you're not alone. I'm on 10.13.6 with a Titan Xp and have 2-3 kernel panics every day. They seem to manifest for me when i'm using Quicklook of all things while i've got things like AE, compressor and Chrome open. It's super frustrating and i'm thinking of swapping in an ATI card since i'm getting pretty sick of the instability.

Good to see I'm not alone - I have tried OpenCL but that usually gives me the dreaded "Premiere Pro has encountered a serious error" message within 10-15 minutes.

Stuck with Metal for now, nowhere near as fast as CUDA in terms of playback.

2 solutions for Premiere users now - use Windows for editing (fast performance, but have to use Windows) or switch to AMD (pay more for a graphics card that doesn't perform as well as NVIDIA in Premiere).

For what it's worth, I rebuilt my Skylake build yesterday with 10.14.6 and a new AREZ STRIX Vega 64 and it's rock solid so far. I'll take stability over a slight speed gain with Nvidia any day.
