Cube Switch Modding

After reading and checking a lot of the G4 case mods on this forum, I also started my own build. My plan is, just like mryner4, to put a Mac Mini M1 in a G4 Cube case. I want to reuse the original powerbutton. I've ordered one of these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RWRK4WX/?tag=tonymacx86com-20

The outer two cables need to be used to connect the powerbutton. When I get my order from Amazon, I'll check if I can find a 5V connection on the motherboard.

I got it wrong, my previous solution seemed to be working, but wasn't. So I had to come up with a new solution to get 5V to the switch. But now it works and I got a G4 Cube M1 :thumbup:

The G4 Cube switch is now working on my Mac Mini M1.
In order to get this working, I ordered these three parts:
  1. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S19M2G1/
  2. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RWRK4WX/
  3. https://www.conrad.com/p/mean-well-rs-15-5-acdc-psu-module-enclosure-3-a-15-w-5-v-dc-1297280
I've connected the wires from the switch to the new connector this way:
  • 1 => 5V+ from AC/DC module
  • 3 => 5V- from AC/DC module
  • 4 => 1
  • 5 => 6

This original picture isn't accurate, now I've only connected 4 and 5 to the Converter Board
