Just in the last few weeks, I had noticed that my Internal Speaker audio output was distorting on Catalina. This had never been an issue before (my primary Hackintosh is a Gigabyte GA-Z270N-Wifi motherboard with ALC 1220 audio). I just booted my backup drive which is still running the previous version of 10.15.7 (19H1922), and magically, my audio is fixed! Just by chance I hadn't gotten around to updating the backup drive with the very latest MacOS updates, so I dodged a bullet here.
I guess I will revert my boot drive to the previous version of 10.15.7, but.... is this a thing? I mean, could a security update cause this issue? Is anyone else experiencing distorted audio in Catalina after the latest patch? And is there any way I can install the update without having to put up with distorted audio?
