cpu temps

Hmm, I was converting movie to atv format and my cpu was over 90 degrees with an H80 liquid cooler.

I'm a bit concerned now...

80... that's too high for my taste.

A rip and convert of a 2-hr DVD for me caused temps to peak at 62-62-66-66 (for the 4
cores) after 12 minutes or so. (and my case fans are in LOW settings too)

BTW, I'm overclocked at 4.4Ghz.

Update: after finishing the DVD rip and convert, temps drop immediately to 41-42C -- and still dropping, now 40-41.

ok, so this qualifies as a problem. just completed my build the other day, first time using a liquid cooler so hopefully i didn't do something wrong.

Did you use the right amount of thermal paste when you attach the heatsink to the cpu?

I'm just using an air-cooled heatsink with 2 fans. Temps now down to 39-40.

i just rotated the pump 90 degrees and ensured a good attachment. Fired it back up along with with another movie conversion and I now max out at 40 C :)

When I took the pump off I noticed very little paste transferred to the CPU therefore bad contact.
