ok I’m up and running - nice and stable - so I’m getting ready to try OC i9-9900k designare Z390 I set memory to XMP 1 and left rest of bios to recommendation of this site.
did base testing before OC and intel app shows it running 4.9 - 5.0 At 98 - 99% while doing cinebench and 3D rendering in Houdini. Running latest Catalina.
Checked bios and it say cpu running 4.8
What am I missing here.
Can this be correct?

This is just turbo boost. The 9900k will boost its speed to 5 GHz on up to 2 cores, I believe, and 4.7 GHz for all cores. Turbo boost is limited by available cooling, power, and is officially also time limited. After a certain time period, the boost will scale back to keep the CPU within its official TDP figure. Many overclocking motherboards will ship with a default BIOS that is set to ignore those time limits, effectively overclocking the CPU out of the gate using the turbo boost behaviour.
