Couple questions about High Sierra install?

The sticky post...How to Update + Current and Past apfs.efi Downloads
says...It seems as if we're into a point by point update of apfs.efi in High Sierra.
My question on this is do you update this before or after the point upgrade?

On the NVIDIA Drivers all seem to be based on the version of MacOS you are running so again my question is do you update this before or after the point upgrade?

My last question is if I am doing a clean install on an SSD should I use APFS or HFS+ for the formatting. Is there pro's or cons to one or the other?

After the update, as Nvidia Web Drivers are for a specific version of macOS.
