Continuity and Handoff Capable Apple Mini Cards + PCIe and mini-PCIe Adapters

I found this out as well, bluetooth works when connecting it to a PCIe x8 but wifi does not...

Interesting - I'm having the opposite - WiFi but no Bluetooth. :(

It seems that only one or the other initializes when plugged into anything outside of a 1x slot (at least on my Rampage IV) my 1x slot is covered up by my 780TI (SLI) so I ended up getting this to extend that slot down to below my MB and use the bottom card slot in my case.

So I have an H77n-wifi motherboard. I've reviewed various articles - there is no real solution at this time for that board - correct? I would need an applicable mini-pcie card, which none of the ones I've seen fit the bill. I'm using my PCI slot for a video card. I replaced the default wifi/BT card with an airport wireless compatible card.

THANK YOU!
Just bought one myself.

Most 3rd party bluetooth sticks will support Bluetooth 4.0 / LE (visible through LMP version 0x06 or higher)

However through system profiler bluetooth they do not show support for Instant Hotspot / Hand-off.

If thats the case, try the following patch to modify the feature flags on the bluetooth module and enable Instant Hotspot and Hand-off.

For Clover:
Code:
<dict>
    <key>Comment</key>
    <string>IOBluetoothFamily - Continuity & Hand-off</string>
    <key>Find</key>
    <data>
    i4eMAQAA
    </data>
    <key>Name</key>
    <string>IOBluetoothFamily</string>
    <key>Replace</key>
    <data>
    uA8AAACQ
    </data>
</dict>

Doesn't work with IOGear Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter. Bummer, I was hoping to not have to buy something else to get this to work. I don't need Wifi, just bluetooth. The hardware listed in the OP is a combination of the two. Anyone have any suggestions?

For those who are trying to use PCI-E Wi-Fi/Bluetooth adapter card in x2, x4, x8, x16 slot:

Most motherboards refuse to work with PCI-E adapters that have both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth powered from PCI-E port other then x1 port. If installed in x2, x4, x8, x16 ports you will have either Wi-Fi or Bluetooth working but not both at the same time.
There is two solutions for this problem:

1. When PCI-E x1 slot is blocked/covered by Video Card: Bplus KZ-B21 (P21S-P21F) : High speed PCI-E Express Extender 1x Riser Externder Card

2. Adapter designed to work in any slot: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.0.0.M8souu&id=38195333521

This wdxxfu studio card adapter has Apple branded Broadcom BCM94360CD card found in iMac 2013.

Both Wi-Fi (a/b/g/n/ac) and Bluetooth 4.0/LE work like a charm.

They managed the card to work properly in any slot by providing four wire connection to USB port for Bluetooth Data and Power.
To get correct 3.3V Bluetooth voltage from 5V USB port they have integrated AMS1117 step down voltage converter: http://translate.google.com/transla...015?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item564f130cef

If you don't speak Chinese and want to buy it, search for TAOBAO purchasing agent.

I was also able to set this up with a BCM94360CD and PCIe adapter card. I am using System Def iMac14,2 and I had to turn off bluetooth on all devices, (Mac Mini, MBP, iPad Mini, iPhone 6+ and Hack) sign out of iCloud on all of my devices and sign back in and reboot the Hack and iPhone. Now all continuity features are working(HandOff (both ways), Instant Hotspot, Air Drop, Answering Phone calls, etc)

Good Luck to all.

Here are the links I used to buy the hardware:

BCM94352 combo work confirms working with the binary patch. Handoff works fine finally!!!!!!!

Both cards work fine with the mini-PCIe adapter as well- however you need to make sure your motherboard (I used an ITX with built in mini-PCIe slot) is fully bluetooth powered. If I were to do it again, I'd get the iMac card first, but both cards are identical Broadcom chipsets.

Would this solution fit the half-height mPCI-E slot on a Gigabyte H87N-WIFI motherboard? I can't use a full PCI-E solution as the only slot is used by my graphics card. I think the mPCI-E slot may have a chip heatsink in the way. Could this solution be put in at an angle if there isn't sufficient clearance? If not, is there some kind of right angle mPCI-E adapter that could be used so the card stands up vertically from the motherboard?
