Confirmed Audio Interfaces (Hobbyist/Pro-sumer/Pro) & Drivers - Mac OS X

More info needed: Are you using via FW or USB? If FW, what FW card are you using?

Thanks for the answer !

I'm using USB port, I had too much troubles using FW with my previous Fireface 400, that's why I sold it to buy a new usb device, I though it would work out of the box... seems not ! You have any idea what's going on ?

Hi

Thanks so much for this thread. I just bought a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, and it seems to run fine anywhere from 30 secs to a few minutes but then the audio starts glitching and stuttering, .... the weird thing is maybe 10 minutes after not playing any audio, it's ready to go again.... for awhile... anyone know a fix for this??

I checked the driver site and they had encountered this problem on Mavericks (running Yosemite) but installed it anyways and didn't make a difference.

Would really appreciate any help :)
Thanks in advance

Specs:

Intel Core i7 6-Core 5820k
Corsair H110 Cooler
Samsung 840 EVO 1TB
1 GTX 970 MSI
GIGABYTE GA-X99-UD5 Motherboard
16GB Crucial DDR4 RAM

2 initial reactions:

1) X99 series is not "officially" supported under OS X by Apple, so anything you do with a CustoMac build is all experimental at this this stage in the game. So you may need to consider that some of your issues may be as a result of a non-supported motherboard/chipset/cpu combination.

2) Are you connecting your Focusrite to a USB 2.0 port & not a USB 3.0??

Are you connecting to USB 3.0 port? Or USB 2.0 port? If USB 3.0, you may need to put USB 2.0 hub in between USB 3.0 and your Focusrite...

Good to know, forget that since everything seems to be working well that there could be idiosyncrasies. I connected to both usb 2 and 3, seems to handle 3 better.

update: I contacted support they suggested the cable *could* be faulty, it's been at least 15 minutes and no glitches so maybe that was it (fingers crossed)

Thanks for your help BoomR

I don't have a focusrite, I have a fireface 802 ! But I'm gonna try connecting it with usb 2.0.

I just tried with usb 2.0, it lasted a little longer working, 1 minute and a half, and then crashed when I opened a new tab in chrome... I'm really confused of what's going on here...!

I know that...you quoted my reply to another user (not you). Having said that, you may also have a similar issue. Using quality cables on ALL your connections is a key to success. Don't cheap out and use $2 USB or FW cables. Get cables from reputable manufacturers... Monster, Belkin, etc...

What I really don't understand, is this : I have a dual boot yosemite/windows 8. Why does the fireface 802 works flawlessly on the windows side, and have troubles on the mac side ? I mean, if it's a cable matter, shouldn't it cause troubles on the both sides ?

Anyway, I'm kinda desperate so I'm gonna try a new cable.

Should this be enough (http://tinyurl.com/nmbq767) or I should break my purse and take this (http://tinyurl.com/o6oks3t) ?

Thanks for your time !

Hmmm...that is odd that it works fine on Windoze & not Mac, then. And as far as USB, something like this should be fine: http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Series-10-Foot-Hi-Speed-Cable/dp/B00062UKIY/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1420049755&sr=8-4&keywords=belkin+usb+cable
