In making sleep simple or using native power management for some cpus, when updating to a new OS version you may discover that Apple has "consolidated" sleep to a single slider bar in Power Management; the Computer Sleep slider bar has disappeared. However, in doing so, the computer doesn't really sleep, since the new consolidated method is supposed to allow certain tasks to continue when the display turns off.
This just happened when going to 10.12.5. Credit for the following goes to other sleuths; I'm just posting it again for convenience. To restore both sliders, modify "/S/L/E/IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext/Contents/Plugins/X86PlatformPlugin.kext/Contents/Resources/Your-Mac-Model.plist"

find:
<key>UnifiedSleepSliderPref</key>
<true/>

replace with:
<key>UnifiedSleepSliderPref</key>
<false/>

Thank you for this :thumbup:
I really missed the old energy saver.
I think you can add iMac 17,1 to the list.
My first attempt was no success.
I only edited one of the two plists for my sysdef.
But I had to edit both.
Mac-65CE76090165799A.plist and Mac-B809C3757DA9BB8D.plist
And now it´s working :clap:

Thanks ghorwith (and to the other sleuths). This helped me out.

Whats the .plist file name for MacBookPro14,1? I have same issue plus my pc sleeps and wakes up immediately. Also After shutdown it power ups back itself. I'm trying to solve this maybe your solution for this solve all my problems.

Update: I think I just found it. Is it this:
Mac-B4831CEBD52A0C4C.plist

Update: All right I made it back. But there is a problem. There were 4 options under the slider. Now I have only two of them. Also sleep issue is still the same unfortunately.

What "sleep issue"?
What hardware?

Well, I am very sorry for posting this under this forum. I didn't notice that. I'm gonna create a new post to discuss about my issues with High Sierra.

Thank you
ghorwith
