As for DRM - I have tried the same movies on a genuine mac and they stream from plex on that computer with no problem

DRM movies will play fine on a genuine Mac. From ivy bridge and up with hacks has issues due to the kernel. Sandy bridge and older machines are fine.

didn't know that. I don't think it's a DRM issue but I will try a movie tonight that I create to see if that changes things.

I removed EmuVariableUefi-64.efi from my EFI partition and I am now able to stream from Plex without rebooting. However, I now have a problem starting up - I was connected to my monitor via HDMI cable but now I have to use a DVI cable else I get a black screen on startup. This is a much better problem than the previous since I can work around it, but it is weird.

Can I continue operating without EmuVariable? Do I need that file for anything?

Didn't last long. Back to rebooting as soon as I start streaming. I also tried with 100% home-created video (so no DRM). Same results. What log should I post to help troubleshoot?

back from vacation - restarted with a new installation of yosemite. Same problem, although now I can stream a vr movie from plex to my iphone with no problems, but if I try to stream the same vr movie to a vr app on my iphone (i.e. Mobile VR Station) my computer reboots itself every time.
