This is our first post here, so hello all! My partner and I are looking to build ourselves a hackintosh desktop inside an old G4 case, which is coming to us for free. However, as this is our first build, we're seeking some advice regarding some parts.
We're planning to follow the tonymac mATX recommended parts list;
Our questions are the following:
If this thread belongs in the case mods section, rather than this one, please move it.
Thanks for the help,
Fil and Miki
We're planning to follow the tonymac mATX recommended parts list;
- Gigabyte GA-Z170MX-Gaming 5
- Core i7-6700K
- 32GB RAM
- Samsung 500GB SSD + 3TB HDD
- Corsair 550 Watt PSU
Our questions are the following:
- Which graphics card should we choose? Is the GTX 960 Overclocked overkill? Are there any other cheaper options?
- Is it worth considering water cooling? As we were planning on modding the G4 case for dual fans and using the Zalman low profile fan.

Thanks for the help,
