Hi,
I'm planning to buy a gaming laptop (medium-high quality performance on full hd) that I will use also for editing videos on macos catalina.
Do you know if Alienware area 51 with this specs is compatible?

Yes, but you will have issues with bad track pad compatibility and audio issues with ALC215.

For me the most important things that must work are:
- thunderbolt 3
- Dedicated Gpu (not igpu) with hdmi and dvi port for multiple monitors
- usb 3
- audio (i don't know what kind of issues I could encounter)

Maybe it will work, but it may need lots of tweaking to get there.

-TB3 probably ok and potentially the easiest.
-DGPU may enconter some problems, it may work with Mojave but not Catalina, or may need a vbios that will be hard to come by, or could not work because of lack of mux chip, or maybe only the external outputs can use the DGPU horsepower, etc...
Read my posts on the ZBook G5 with WX-4170 DGPU to see what I'm talking about.
In the end after a lot of work I managed to get a working dual-ish GPU system, but it's not perfect.

-audio can also be an item, same with my CX8400 codec.
