Combo Update Installation Fails

I have currently got everything working up to 10.6.4, but when I run any of the Combo Update installers (I've tried everything from 10.6.5 to 10.6.8) I immediately get the "installation failed, contact the software provider" message. Permissions have been repaired and still no dice.

Google has not shown me any fixes yet... anyone here know how to get updates working?

Are you trying to install the Combo Update on a MBR partitioned hard drive?
