Clover - Dual Boot - Yosemite UEFI - Win7 Legacy - Questions

I know that you can get Clover to Boot your Legacy OS, but how?

Currently the Only "NON" OS X, Drive options are Boot Windows from "Legacy HD1 & Legacy HD2" and neither of them boot to Win..

I can boot to Win via. BIOS Boot Options F12: But I cant seem to get Clover to see the "correct" drive.. I have the following implemented, but it does not solve the issue:

Do I need to make a custom entry? Ive tried to understand the Clover Wiki on that but the little documentation available isn't helping me...

This seems easy to follow (somewhat) but I still have questions about it :think:

You can customize entries in Clover bootscreen by editing Custom Entries. Open your config.plist with Clover Configurator, press + button under Custom Entries. You need to fill in options:
- Volume: Your partition UUID, you can find them in /Library/Logs/Clover/EFI/boot.log
- Path: The path to your .efi boot file. If not specified, Clover will use default value based on Type
- Title/Full Title: Check the box to switch to Full Title, then name your entry.
- Hidden: Hide the entry in Clover screen, you can show them by pressing F3.
- Disabled: Remove the entry in Clover screen
- Type: Select your Entry OS X.

Note that the UUID has to be of the partition containing entries. For example, if you see "Boot Microsoft Windows from EFI", then EFI is the partition containing Windows UEFI

  1. I "cannot locate" this. I think I can get this with "bdmesg" in terminal? Is the drive I want, the one Ive highlighted.. I only see 3 (three) "Bootable Legacy" and 2 (two) of them are HD1 & HD2 - Which I cant get to boot

I have also tried "System Reserved" and just "Windows_NTSF" The only thing I haven't tried is the volume with no name... I have no idea how I would try that:crazy:

Im doing this remotely, and he's off chasing tail, so I cant use the BIOS boot option to actually boot windows to see what the Volume is. He told me that its 'System Reserved' Is that correct?

Im really lost here, if someone could please lend a hand?

Which selection (entry) within Clover actually boots Windows. I would assume you have to boot one of the disks (not a partition) in order to boot. That is "LegacyBiosDefault" is your setting for Boot/Legacy.

In that case, the entry that boots windows is a disk (booting the MBR), not a partition.

I could never get Clover to boot Windows legacy through the PBR (which would be on System Reserved).

When you say "the entry that boots windows is a disk," are you saying like with the Identifier disk1 or disk2? I thought 'possibly' try that, but they do not remain constant during reboots :think: I guess Im not getting what the 'Volume' would be for a disk.

It cant possibly be this hard, but Im having a tough time wrapping my head around it :banghead:

Check your setting for config.plist/Boot/Legacy.

Note: If your system has UEFI capability, you're wasting your time with legacy boot. You can transition your Windows install to UEFI instead and boot it easily with Clover. Legacy booting is a PITA and so 1980s.

Did not know I could transition.. Any place particular I should start looking for documentation?

And yes after this little venture, Legacy booting is a major PITA...
