Clearing NVRAM

Hi all,

Just wondering a simple question; what are the risks in clearing the NVRAM?
The reason I am asking is that I have been using the same set up for quite a while now (since snow leopard I think) and never cleared the nvram.
I have a few issues with sleep/wake up - to the point where i don't use it anymore - and even though I can't find a solution on the net, some suggested to clesr the nvram. I am ok to do it as long as it is not going to brick my system. I can't find anything on the net about whether it is safe to clear the nvram on a hackintosh or not (but I admit I might have missed some).

clearing NVRAM (if it works) is just normal, even in hackintosh

but a few things most be considering:

• some apple services, like messages etc, use nvram to store some data info
• nvram also storage some boot info, like default system
• macos also uses nvram to configs like system volume, screen brightener, etc

so, reset nvram cause lost some info that may be required to ur system work property

but, in some cases, this info stored at nvram may also break some system features so, in that case, clear nvram is benefit and even Apple recommend such action eventually

Reset NVRAM on your Mac

If one or more settings stored in NVRAM don't work as expected on an Intel-based Mac, resetting NVRAM might help.

to me, clear nvram is just a casual thing - when I want I clear - but I prefer do this before a fresh system installation
