As soon as I found out that Chimera supports multiple cards I ordered a couple of GeForce 8400 GS's to complement the 2 I already had to support my 7 screen setup. I put all 4 cards into my GA-X58A-UD3R board and plugged in 5 screens (I am missing some HDMI adaptors for the two other screens).
It mostly works well, I get all the screens working in full resolution (4 x 1920x1080 + 2650x1600), all rotated into portrait mode. The problem seems to be the new GeForce 8400 GS's I bought, namley ASUS GeForce 8400GS 512MB (8400GS-512MD3-SL) from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006M1N04O/). They report as:
Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de)
Device ID: 0x10c3
Revision ID: 0x00a2
The problem seems to be that QE/CI is not working. The screens plugged into these cards run very slow. There is tearing when I move windows. I'm not sure if this is becuase of the card ids or something to do with the 4 card setup. The mobo delivers 8 lanes per slot in this configuration and the other cards/screens run at full speed so I don't think that is the issue.
Any suggestions or pointers would be welcome. System Profiler output is attached. Running SL 10.6.8, Graphics Enabler=Yes, installed drivers from: NVIDIA Retail Mac Driver 256.02.25f01.mpkg.
