All,
I found that changing from the iMac12,2 to Macmini5,1 caused a strange issue where my network card would take forever to get a DHCP address.
I found that the NetworkInterfaces.plist and preferences.plist in the /Library/preferences/systemconfiguration directory retained the previous system model (in my case the iMac12,2).
By changing the SMBIOS and then deleting these plist files, I was able to resolve the issue after rebooting and setting up my network interfaces under the mac settings.
The steps would be as follows:
1 - Change the SMBIOS
2 - Delete the plists
3 - Reboot the comp
4 - Reconfigure the network interaces (hint: you'll have to specify a location first in the network settings at the top of the window)
5 - Reset your machine name in the sharing settings
6 - Reboot again
Hope this helps anyone who was having an issue. This also resolved a KP I was getting.
