Hi all and happy new year.
I've got an old hackintosh (GA-G31M es2l + Core2Duo E84 + nVidia 8400GS) that I want to use now on my TV through HDMI, it works ok through my 21" dvi monitor but when I plug it to my HDMI TV the screen goes black just before reaching the finder ( OSX Lion). The thing is I remember I've used gfx tool to get the proper gfx string into my org.chameleon.boot.plist file to make my video card work ok trough dvi. Now what should i do to get both HDMI and DVI working. In case I swap back from my HDMI tv to my 21" dvi monitor. I've tried to boot with GraphicsEnabler=yes or no but still black screen on HDMI, so i guess I need to edit the org.chameleon.boot.plist file ?

this is mine :

Thanks in advance for any help

This sounds like a port issue with your 8400 GS card. Have you considered using the DVI port with a DVI>HDMI adaptor? It might be the easiest solution.

thanks, but is there no way to make all ports work ?

You would probably need to redo the device properties string for the 8400 GS card. Have you tried not using this string in the past?

I have never needed to use a string like this for a GPU. The 8400 should work from Snow Leopard right through to Mavericks as it does on the iMac models that had this card around 2009/2010.

I do not know what you have tried in the past. If you have a spare HDD around try a new Lion installation and just use the GraphicsEnabler instruction with MultiBeast or Chameleon Wizard if you prefer. You may need to try different things and I do not recommend doing this on your main installation in case of error.

Yes, actually I can't remember why I did use a gfx string for this video card, but anyway I'm just gonna backup my "Extra" folder and re install chameleon and boot and see what's what. Thought someone would give me a hint..; I 'm so lazy this new year ^^
thank you anyway
