Hi Guys

Running Mojave on an HP Compaq Pro 6300 with a Geforce GT730 Graphic card.
Works pretty well :) Just need a better Graphic card though :(

I got into possession of a ASUS Radeon RX630 card

Would it be "wise" just changing it, or will it need a need a resinstall?

Thanks for any heads up, before I try it :)
Thanks

Arne

RX 630 (Radeon 630)?

If so I don't think it is supported under MacOS. It looks to be a rebrand of the RX 540, which is not supported.

HI There Mr. Bond - James Bond :)

I found this thread/Guide where a RX560 2 GB is used out of the box, as it says!!

If you're looking for a super simple build, you've come to the right place. I have been lurking the forums for a few years and decided to do a build that would be fairly cheap and easy. I was able to build this Hackintosh for roughly $400 with used parts, and it was extremely easy. If you follow these steps, you'll have everything working right away. Since the RX560, Bluetooth dongle, and network card all work out of the box, this is a guide just for the motherboard and CPU configuration. If you decide to add the RX560, Bluetooth, and WiFi, it will require no modifications. This overall build takes less than an hour once you have everything built and downloaded, and 30 minutes of that time is just the macOS installation where you have to do nothing..

What a bummer if I can't use the RX560!!

Arne :)

Hi Again

FYI :)

Also found this post:

Apple lists a series of GPUs that support Metal, and thereby macOS Mojave, for those looking to keep their aging workhorses up to date.

The following cards are known to be Metal-compatible:

  • MSI Gaming Radeon RX 560 128-bit 4GB GDRR5
  • SAPPHIRE Radeon PULSE RX 580 8GB GDDR5
  • SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7950 Mac Edition
  • NVIDIA Quadro K5000 for Mac
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 Mac Edition

Apple also lists cards that "might also be compatible" with macOS Mojave:

  • AMD Radeon RX 560
  • AMD Radeon RX 570
  • AMD Radeon RX 580
  • AMD Radeon Pro WX 7100
  • AMD Radeon RX Vega 56
  • AMD Radeon RX Vega 64
  • AMD Radeon Pro WX 9100
  • AMD Radeon Frontier Edition
Hope the ASUS one, which should be quite similar to MSI - I mean 128-bit - 4GB - GDRR5 :)

RX 560 (except XFX brand) should work. I have a Sapphire Pulse RX 560 4GB that I tested before and it works with MacOS Sierra 10.12.6 / High Sierra 10.13.6 and most likely it will also work with MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 and Catalina.

As you can see I am using a Sapphire RX 580 Pulse 8GB in my main system and it works with MacOS Sierra 10.12.6 / High Sierra 10.13.6 / Mojave 10.14.6.
