Hi, I'm having installer stuck at apfs_module_start when I try to update from Mojave.

I have tried deleting EFI and setting up one from scratch with Multibeast for Mojave before attempting to update to Catalina.

CPU: i7-8700k
MB: ROG STRIX Z370-F GAMING
SSD: Samsung 970 Pro NVME

Any suggestions?
Thanks

Use the forum Search tool perhaps ?
This problem has been dealt with many times over the last few days.

You just need to put SSDT-EC.aml in /EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched.
"Use the forum Search tool perhaps ?" well, this is how I got here and it resolved my issue.
thanks :)

That's kinda embarrassing. I did search through topic titles but not the contents.
Well, at least this will be easier to find now.

You just need to put SSDT-EC.aml in /EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched.

That helped, thanks!

Hi P1LGRIM
I followed this but no luck, still stucks at apfs_module_start.. Are you aware of any other solution? Or what else could cause this?

I follow this post as well. Thank you

When I started out two years ago I used to forget to add those type of files in the config.plist file. That is, I just dropped the files in those directories without adding any reference in the plist file; consequently the outcome was not what I was expecting.

It figured it out: I had two identical systems running on two separate SSD's (both 10.14.6). I added the SSDT-EC.aml only to the EFI of the SSD I wanted to update. I had in fact add it to both (for reasons beyond me). It works now.

I should have disconnected the second system.
