Catalina stuck at grey screen, with mouse cursor, no UI. Asus Prime Z370-A, Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti, AMD RX 570

Hi,

I could install Catalina and it starts, but there never comes more than the grey background and a mouse cursor. If I hit the keyboard, I hear voiceover being turned on. Output is through the AMD card.

- booting works fine, it starts with output on the Nvidia card
- at some point there no more text coming from the console and the last line is gIOscreenlockstate 3, then I switch to the AMD HDMI and see the grey screen appear

Here's what I tried so far:
- update kexts
- Inject ATI, DeInit AMD
- disable NVIDIA

No change at all.

I need both cards under Windows, so removing one is not really an options, sadly.

Any ideas?

I observed that during boot:

• the output gets black first
• then constant grey for 2-3s,
• then a white 8mm bar appears on the top and disappear after 1s
• then it comes to the shaded grey with mouse cursor like in the screenshot of the previous post

SMBIOS is iMAC19,2
I’ve installed it to an USB connected external SSD.
