Looking for help to install MacOS Catalina on the computer listed below.

I have followed the Unibeast installation guide and can get up to step 4.
At the point where Catalina is to start installing, I get a black screen with
a white Apple logo in the middle of the screen and I get the following error
code on the motherboard display “AF”. Manual description is “Exit Boot Services”.

Anyone having a problem like this?

Motherboard - Gigabyte W480 Vision W Rev 1 LGA 1200 Socket with Intel W480 Chipset.
The Bios is AMI Version F5 - (build date 04/13/2021).
Memory - 16 GB (2x8GB) Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2666MHz DRAM.
Processor - Intel Core i5-10400 Comet Lake 6-Core 2.9 GHz Desktop Processor with Intel UHD Graphics 630.

Thanks in advance.

This look like the same issue as in this thread: Unibeast uses an outdated version of Clover which does not support 10th gen. You have to:
1) download a newer release of Clover, and then install and configure it by yourself—not using Unibeast;
OR
2) use OpenCore.

Thanks etroix, I'll give it shot.

As a newby to the hackintosh experience I have a general question. To build a hackintosh computer to run Mac OS Catalina, do I have to have Catalina running on my existing Apple Mac?

No, It can be High Sierra or Mojave.
