Hi everyone. Apologies for not being able to figure this out myself.

I have tried to copy CaseySJ's popular Designare Z390 build.

For installation, I have followed his instructions **Mini-Guide for Fresh Installation of Catalina 10.15.4 and Newer***

The firmware on my Z390 Designare is F8, so I used the guide from Casey SJ's original post.

I've also followed the Micro-Guide to Unlocking MSR 0xE2 on Gigabyte Designare Z390

My build includes a few differences from his build, namely:

  • CPU is an 8th generation Coffee Lake core i5-8400
  • SSD is a Sabrent Rocket NVMe 512GB
  • Using a 64gb USB 3.0 drive to install Catalina

Unfortunately, I have been unsuccessful in being able to install Catalina and have not been able to get past the following screen:

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Check BIOS settings
VT-D off
CSM off
USB XCHI On

Make sure SSD is GUID and APFS partitioned
Installer will create 2 volumes on install

Also try OpenCore boot loader I and others have posts with OpenCore configured for coffee lake board and cpu
I try to keep mine fairly current

Foster, thanks for the feedback.
I was starting to worry I wouldn't get any replies.

I double checked and all my BIOS settings seem to be correct.

Just a couple more questions before I start over and try OpenCore bootloader.

I have my RAM (Trident Z RGB 32GB (16GBx2) DDR4 3200Mhz) installed in the A2 and B2 slots.

I also currently have 3 SSDs installed:

Sabrent Rocket NVMe 512GB (2X)
Sunbow 2.5 inch 1TB SSD - Installed in the SATA 2 port.

Could any of these settings be related to it not installing?

Foster and everyone on these boards, THANK YOU!
Foster, thanks to your help and all the troubleshooting threads that I used, I was able to get my machine running!
I was previously on El Capitan, and boy is this an upgrade!
Thank you!
