Hi all.....

I've just recently upgraded my laptop to macOS Catalina 10.15.5

Specs :

- Laptop : ASUS K46Cm
- Memory : 8GB DDR3
- Graphics : Intel HD 4000
- Processor : Intel Core i7 3517U

Whenever I want to restart my Laptop, I heard some clicking noise from my hard drive, the laptop is restarting just for several seconds, then the hard drive starts clicking again and the laptop just shuts down and not turning back on

Anyone please help......:(

maybe replace the defective hard drive?

maybe replace the defective hard drive?

But in Windows and Ubuntu it seems just to work fine, shut down also works fine in Catalina (Without clicking noise), only restarts.....

I also have replaced the hard drive of my laptop with the new one one year ago....checked the health in Windows Hard Disk Sentinel and it reports 100%

I have a feeling that it's just in MacOS, because shuts down works fine without clicking noise...My biggest problem is I can't restart at all (in Catalina), whenever I want to restart it just restart for several seconds then turns off again....

Maybe this can be fixed with some simple config.plist fixes?

not seeing anything wrong with your files that would make a ticking noise in your machine.

you could also try drivedx mac software to test as well

you could try enabling these:
Code:
<key>Fixes</key>
            <dict>
                <key>Comment-IRQ Fix</key>
                <string>The following fixes may be needed for onboard audio/USB/etc</string>
                <key>FixHPET</key>
                <false/>
                <key>FixIPIC</key>
                <false/>
                <key>FixRTC</key>
                <false/>
                <key>FixTMR</key>
                <false/>

this can be removed:

Code:
<key>ForceKextsToLoad</key>
        <array>
            <string>\System\Library\Extensions\IONetworkingFamily.kext</string>
        </array>

and also following the usb setup guide can help sort out a lot of issues:

also, what patches did you do in your DSDT.aml?

Sorry, but I'm new to Hackintosh... what app to use to enable those? PlistEdit Pro? is it the config.plist file?

also, what patches did you do in your DSDT.aml?

I just applied the recommended Laptop DSDT Patches by Rehabman....Those are :
"Fix _WAK Arg0 v2"
"HPET Fix"
"SMBUS Fix"
"IRQ Fix"
"RTC Fix"
"OS Check Fix"
"Fix Mutex with non-zero SyncLevel"

and also following the usb setup guide can help sort out a lot of issues:

I've followed the guide.... but still got some problem...

https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/the-new-beginners-guide-to-usb-port-configuration.286553/page-73

I've posted replies there, at the last page.....
