For so long I've been away, not updating and everything...
It's simply because I've not been having any issues on my Hackintosh, Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and I'm afraid of updating to Lion.

Finally, just today, I pulled out the mouse in my chest and raised all my balls.
It's because I need to do this and I want to upgraded my GPU...

So, i tested upgrading to Lion 10.7.2 using a Test Drive, where-in I use Carbon Copy Cloner.
Cloned my Snow Leopard 10.6.8 (MainDrive) then upgraded my TestDrive to Lion 10.7.2
Used this process in upgrading, xMove style:

So happy, that it all went well... :headbang:

Now, here's a simple question.
Since my TestDrive is working all perfectly, can I simply used Carbon Copy Cloner to just Clone TestDrive to MainDrive? Or do I need to redo all the process on my MainDrive?

Update (4/13/12): Answer is YES! No need to redo the process in MainDrive

1. Boot "TestDrive"
2. Format MainDrive using Disk Utility.
3. Run Carbon Copy Cloner
4. Settings: Source = Test Drive | Destination = MainDrive
5. Run Multibeast and install Chimera Bootloader on MainDrive

NOTE: This must be done only if your already confident that your TesDrive is PERFECTLY working...

Re: CarbonCopyCloner OSX Upgrade...

That should work without a problem.
Only thing to check is that you re-install chimera on the main drive after cloning (because I suspect there will still be the old one from 10.6.8)

Personnally I would keep the 10.6.8 install, just in case... and maybe buy an extra 'Main Drive' for Lion??

Hmmm... This is a good suggestion...

I know what to do now...

I'll make an image file for my 10.6.8 using Carbon Copy Cloner then clone my TestDrive to my MainDrive... TestDrive will still be use for testing purposes only since it has limited capacity. Hope it works properly...
X-Fingers.... :D

Re: CarbonCopyCloner OSX Upgrade...

I use:

Main is drive 1
backup 1 daily to 2
Backup weekly 1 and 2 to 3
4 is a clean 10.7.2 setup

Re: CarbonCopyCloner OSX Upgrade...

Didn't pursue with this process...
Carbon Copy Cloner doesn't seem to clear the MainDrive and then Clone TestDrive. Can't seem to find the option on it.

I think the proper process to be done:
1. Boot TestDrive (Lion 10.7.2)
2. Format MainDrive using Disk Utility.
3. Run Carbon Copy Cloner
4. Settings: Source = Test Drive | Destination = MainDrive
5. Run Multibeast and install Chimera Bootloader on MainDrive

So, I just upgraded the Usual way like I did with my TestDrive.

Anyways, I posted this Post to somewhat see other options in doing stuff. :D

Re: CarbonCopyCloner OSX Upgrade...

OK here's an update:

I've somewhat crashed my MainDrive OSX Lion due to 10.7.3 Update.
Good is that I have a back-up done thru CarbonCopyCloner.

I want a clean MainDrive... Formatting it all over and installing OSX back the fast way...

Anyways, My point in this Post is too lessen doing things like downloading software updates(ex. OSX Lion 10.7.3 update) all over again when TESTING something like updates and everything that went all Perfectly good. Rather than running Apple Software and doanling huge updates all over again....

Easier this way...

1. Boot "TestDrive"
2. Format MainDrive using Disk Utility.
3. Run Carbon Copy Cloner
4. Settings: Source = Test Drive | Destination = MainDrive
5. Run Multibeast and install Chimera Bootloader on MainDrive

NOTE: This is only be done if your TestDrive went all perfectly...
