can't upgrade to Mojave from High Sierra

I've been trying to update to Mohave for months. I run the installer from the App store, it downloads whatever it's downloading, it closes all open apps, and then I get this error: "An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running this application again." I've run the application many times. Looking online tells me I need to fix the date on my computer. My date is fine. No problems. Has anyone else seen this? I haven't seen any threads about this at all. I'm running Clover 4617. I don't think that's it, though. The error happens while fully booted into High Sierra 10.13.6.

Can I download the installer and install while offline? Might that help?

I used UniBeast to do a fresh install. Mojave is a different format, files system.

I had the same issue on the same board and CPU. Never got around it, ended up doing a fresh install onto another SSD and starting again.

Thank you. I started looking for guides on a fresh install. Do you have any suggestions? Did you stick with Clover or use UniBeast?

I used the guides on home page at Tonymac. As I have AMD 280X cards I need to use EFI, I also had Clover but it was reasonably straightforward,
