Whatever I do with different OSX versions and patches (dosdude), I still get the

You may not install this volume because the computer is missing a firmware partition

Message. I updated clover, added the suggested keys, upgraded the firmware of my SDD drive, but still the same message. Tried to create a bootable USB device but also issues there. Works with an issue on Sierra, but I want to upgrade to stay up to date.

Did anyone encounter this issue also and if so, what can be done as a workaround ?

Hi there.

Upgrade Sierra to what?

We don't have enough detail of your hardware. Is the PC in your Profile the one you are trying to upgrade?

Sorry for the lack of details..

Indeed my config is in my profile, but meanwhile I upgraded to a SDD. Added the current clover details for more details

What exactly is your CPU model? I don't think there is a "Q4600" CPU from Intel.

Just updated my profile (again) -> Intel i7 cpu 920.

Meanwhile I tried to create a APFS bootable Catalina installation SSD drive including the correct (and updated EFI) from my booting Sierra Drive. Tried to boot from this disk, but this is not bootable. Booting afterwards in Sierra than this drive is not readable (due to APFS).

No, this is not likely to work.

Create a UniBeast installer memory-stick for Catalina and use that. Follow the main Installation Guide.

If you are unable to do this then boot into Sierra and update through the App Store to High Sierra. Once you have done this you can create APFS volumes if you ever need to, although I not recommend you do this manually but instead leave it to the Apple installers to do the job.

Once you have Catalina installed you can move some of the hardware settings from your Sierra build, but not simply copy the old EFI into place.

After too many hours of experimenting, I have my machine working on Catalina. Some issue still.. Can't upgrade catalina, old SMBios definition (MacPro4,1) and maybe Kext installed that are useless.

A Gigabyte EX58 bios upgrade to F13 brings new challenges. Downloaded the correct DSDT.aml and that helps at least a bit. But I not there yet. Can use some help with

- SMBIOS example
- config.plist example

For my configuration. Can someone upload these?
