During the boot up when you see tonymac screen just hit any key that to interrupt the boot and type -x -v and hit enter to continue. Thats how you enter safemode.

Ok, so I've updated/patched the bios, which now allows me to install and boot without problems but the video is still garbled. So I rebooted in safe mode (thanks @MiniITX), and I'm able to get to the desktop in full 1080p, but with no graphics acceleration - meaning I can't do any videos and such but at least it allows me to play around with the driver options. When I check the info in "About this Mac", the Graphics correctly lists Intel HD4000, but with 0MB for graphics memory. I've tried the HD4000 enable options, i.e. Chimera, and then EFI string injection, but that doesn't seem to work either. One interesting thing I noticed was that in the System Information > Software > Extensions, I could not find anything related to AppleIntelGraphics. Another thing to note is that my motherboard BIOS does not have any GPU Memory related options, so I'm not able to configure that bit as it is required in the "Enabling HD4000" thread.

I still don't have sound either (my onboard doesn't work, so I'm using a discrete ASUS Xonar DG card), but I can get to this later I suppose.

Btw, @MiniITX, I'll send you my DSDT.

Attach the DSDT file i will edit it.

Multibeast settings :

> UserDSDT or DSDT-Free Installation
> Audio > Without DSDT > ALC892
> Disk > 3rd party SATA kext (check Trim 10.8.1 only if you have an SSD)
> Miscellaneous > FakeSMC
> Miscellaneous > FakeSMC Plugins
> Network > Lnx2Mac's RealtekRTL81xx
> Bootloaders
> Boot Options > 1080p
> System Definition > iMac 12.2

The string i was talking for HD4000 to add in .plist is

Code:
<key>device-properties</key>
<string>7f0000000100000001000000730000000200000002010c00d041030a000000000101060000027fff04002c0000004100410050004c002c00690067002d0070006c006100740066006f0072006d002d006900640000000800000000006601140000006800640061002d0067006600780000000d0000006f6e626f6172642d31</string>

Note : Without the edited DSDT you will not have HDMI audio but Green Audio Jack will work.

Hi @MiniITX, I've PM'ed you the DSDT. Let me know if you didn't get it. (Again thanks for your help!!)

I've tried all the links you sent me and edited the .plist file with the string. Here's the checklist:

> UserDSDT or DSDT-Free Installation [I did DSDT-free install]
> Audio > Without DSDT > ALC892 [yes]
> Disk > 3rd party SATA kext (check Trim 10.8.1 only if you have an SSD) [No - Since I'm not installing on a SSD]
> Miscellaneous > FakeSMC [Yes]
> Miscellaneous > FakeSMC Plugins [No]
> Network > Lnx2Mac's RealtekRTL81xx [Yes]
> Bootloaders [Yes - Chimera 1.11.1]
> Boot Options > 1080p [Yes]
> System Definition > iMac 12.2 [No]

The DSDT is ready. Make sure you rename it to DSDT.aml and place it on desktop.

Run the Multibeast with the settings that i gave you above.

I applied the DSDT and went through the checklist on a fresh install and everything went smooth except for graphics. I also applied the strings from the Enabling HD4000 thread, but none of them seem to work. I have a suspicion this might have something to do with the BIOS GPU settings, but there is no way to configure it in the ASRock z77 Pro3 motherboards.

Sound is also another problem but I can get to this later since I'm using a discrete sound card. My onboard sound does not work because of faulty hardware.

How do I go about installing NullCPU on my hack OS drive if I can't boot. MB does not allow me to choose an install destination (I can plug the OS SSD into my MBPr). Any advice? Moreoever, how come this isn't installed with unibeast since it is required for the system to boot?

MB will allow you to change destination.....select something general install....then you will see change destination.....Then select what you really want.

Thanks, I am doing this on my MBPr so don't want to install anything that could mess up an actual mac. That being said I was told in another fourm that kexts that aren't being used by the system will just sit there and not effect the computer; this actually goes against what I thought which was that conflicting kexts can cause issues and only to install the ones that are applicable.
