I have a problem. I just installed a fresh snow leopard 10.6.8 OS on a hard drive. It is up and running. But everytime I try to login into the app store I get "an unknown error" message. I'am able to log into itunes and purchase a song but not the app store. I'm trying to get to my purchased copy of lion.
Any ideas as to what to do? I'm really stuck

In researching this problem on osx10.6.8 it appears to be a new issue that has appeared - my current osx SL system works of itunes and App store
Some of the info is saying you need the latest iTunes and have aggreed to the terms of service - which I find baffeling.
Some of the info is saying that its newtwork related and that you need to have set IOPrimaryInterface=true
and have the active ethernet port set to 0 - and did your build have a dsdt file -

Now in the osx LION and MT LION world this error has shown up - and there is a newer Chimera Bootloader that helps out w this issue.
Also some users have added a serial number to the system ( and other apple info) by using Chamelon Wizzard - again all of this is referenced to osx LION and Mt Lion.
Yet we also have this information to look and and maybe able to solve your problem. they Speak of removing the App store file and reinstalling.

But Also suspect is the apple 10.6.8 update file - if you were on 10.6.0 or 10.6.3 ( Apple states that this Update could be used if you are at osx10.6.7 ) you should use the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1

But Some builders and I include myself w this - have had issues w installing the above version and have had to use Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update v.1.1 - which states that you should be on OSX 10.6.7

I guess the big difference is the word "Combo" and whats in that.
I suggest you see if you can get your iTunes setup and let us know.
