Hey, been trying to get osx running on my acer e1-571, almost everything is working, except the graphics. I just can't get the card (Intel HD Graphics 4000) recognised right.

I have tried everything i could find via google (Custom DSDT's, editied apple intelsnbgraphics.kext files (both included with driver packs for this laptop) Adding the h400platformid string to org.chameleon.Boot.plist but nothing works, i am running the latest version of chimera (which from what i read should fix it)

This laptop has the graphics reported working so it must be possible....
Is there something i'm overlooking here?
(Btw, i'm running 10.8.2, as when i tried 10.8.3 or 4 i could only boot in safe mode, if i tried booting not in safe mode i got either a kp or it just froze at boot)

Thanks in advance

EDIT: found a tip to edit the device propertys in org.chameleon.Boot.plist to:
Code:
<key>device-properties</key>
<string>5e0000000100000001000000520000000100000002010c00d041030a000000000101060000027fff04002c0000004100410050004c002c00690067002d0070006c006100740066006f0072006d002d006900640000000800000003006601</string>

And the card is recognized, and dvd player works (which afaik needs CE/CI so that must be working) But i don't get any of the fancy UI effects (such as the transparent menu bar)

Is there any reason for this?

hi,
steps:
1-check ram in your bios
2-if the ram is 128mb the problem is that
3-reinstall windows
4-go to official acer site and download a new bios for your pc
5-install it (start installation easy from windows)
6-check the ram in your bios if change in 64 or 96 mb the problem is solved!!!
7-install mac
I have a acer aspire e1 570 with mavericks.....after change my bios (now 64mb ram) a video ram is 1024mb (intel HD 4000) full acceleration!

Sorry for my english ....i'm italian.....
Good luck!!!

Not a desktop. Moved to laptop support.

What is your screen resolution?

---

Please provide complete details in your profile.

System: manufacturer/model
CPU: detailed CPU model + motherboard chipset
Graphics: all graphics devices + laptop internal screen resolution

For example, typical Ivy laptop:
System: HP ProBook 4540s
CPU: i5-3320m/HM76
Graphics: HD4000, 1366x768

Use CPU-Z on Windows to find CPU (Core iX-xxx) and motherboard chipset (HMxx). For a laptop, these details are important and affect critical installation procedures.
