Hello all,

I just got mountain lion up and running on my system and booting fine with the chameleon bootloader. It's installed on the following hardware:

Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth X79
CPU: Intel Core i7 3930k
SSD: OCZ Vertex 4
RAM: 32GB

Nevertheless, I can't get it to work with my graphics card. I can only achieve a resolution of 1024 x 768. I would really appreciate it if anyone could provide with some guidance as to how to get it working. Not very many people have built systems with this line of gpus, so there isn't much documentation on fixes. So far, I've tried two different things:

1. This procedure listed on MacOSx86.net: http://www.osx86.net/view/1998-hd5750__5xxx_for_lion_10.7.2.html
2. The procedure listed by Úll Mac in this tonymac forum: http://legacy.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=30039

Neither of them worked for me.

Thanks and please let me know if you need anymore information.

Hi, glad to see someone else interested in using an ati /amd workstation card.
I still don't get why there is so little discussion here on the firepro cards particularly as the apple offerings are so limited.

I'm in the process of getting hardware together for my next build ( keeping my v5800 ) so not running osx presently
but I used snow leopard to figure out my method, then in lion 10.7.5, I had to overwrite the ati kexts with kexts from 10.7.2
mountain lion was a bit flakey when I installed last but a bit of trial and error should sort .I'll be back at it over the next few weeks.
I noticed that in snow leopard all v5800 outputs were visible in system profiler no matter which output was connected dvi/dp1/dp2
In lion and mountain lion only the dvi ( connected to monitor ) was visible in profiler although both dp ports also worked.
If you can test dvi and dp at each stage , you may find one works better

Ati firepro V5800 is derived from Ati Radeon HD5770 / Ati Firepro v5900 is derived from Ati Radeon HD6970

Have a read of threads with working Ati Radeon HD6970 like this one......

and also worth a read ....

I've found that choice of bootloader plays a part ,
try with both chimera and chameleon and i'd definitely give clover a go too ,
I'm not too familiar with clover but it may play nice with your card
