Hello friends. I'm having trouble with the StarTech external enclosure. I keep getting errors while formatting. I have posted a screenshot of this and the error detail in text below. At first the enclosure lights up as if the disk is being used, but after a minute the light goes off and the formatting window in Disk Utility seems to hang. Left long enough, I see the following errors. I would love to hear from anyone else that encountered this, and whether they got their enclosure working.

Other detail:
  • Tried with 2 brand new drives, same problem
  • 7/8/9 Series USB Support is installed via Multibeast
  • Increase Mac Port Limit is installed via Multibeast
Here is my system information showing the device is connected to USB 3.1 (as far as I can tell).

Update:

I find that I am able to format disks correctly with USB 3.0 ports, but not the USB 3.1 ports. I am using an Z170MX-Gaming 5 motherboard.

Why did you install 7/8/9 Series USB Support while you have a 100 Series system?

Thanks for responding Brebo. I was following along with this video which said this was the way to get USB 3.0 working:

I guess you are saying I can remove 7/8/9 in Multibeast and things should be ok?
