Hi guys!

Just managed to install ML 10.8 on my laptop and now I can't boot! Everytime I turn it on without the USB it gives me a kernel panic. I've already tried every boot flag combination and all of the MBP system definitions (if that makes any difference...), but every time it gives me the exact same panic. I can only boot with my USB and it must be with these bootflags: -x UseKernelCache=No(just to prevent freezing on loading OS) -f(same reason as before) and some other "random" flag e.g. PCIRootUID=0/1(doesnt really matter what I choose, it boots the same way) in case I dont use any of the kernel cache or -f flags, because strangely it cant boot only with -x (which is the only one that really makes a difference in this case)

Here is all the specs I know from it:

Processor: core i7 2630QM 2.0GHz sandy bridge
HD3000 graphics
Intel HM65 chipset
4GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM
500GB Western Digital HDD
Gigalan(?) JMicron 10/100 Ethernet
Realtek 8192se WLAN

Also if anyone have a kext or something of any of the network cards, post it here please.

Thanks!

What is the KP? Without any information about the specific KP, no one can help...

Very common to have KP on AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext.

You should:
- install patched AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext using Multibeast.
- install SSDT for your CPU (use ProBook Installer v6.1 [currently beta9])
- check your DSDT to be sure Processor objects are declared in Scope (_PR). Use MaciASL to search for 'Processor'
- use DropSSDT=Yes in org.chameleon.Boot.plist
- use GenerateCStates=No, GeneratePStates=No in org.chameleon.boot.plist
- make sure you have an appropriate System Definition (smbios.plist) installed that matches your hardware. Probably MacBookPro 8,2 for your Sandy i7. You can use Chameleon Wizard.

You must do all of the above to implement power management. Any one thing wrong or missing, and you'll get KP...

I should probably write a sticky for this forum, covering just this topic...

Ok, where can I find the patched kext (is it on multibeast?) and how to install it and the probook installer and ssdt?
As for the definition i've tried both MBPs from multibeast and I have the same results... Maybe with the other items done it can make a difference. And as for the DSDT I couldn't find any for the HM65 chipset on the DSDT db, but will give it a go on other websites...

Yes. I wrote unibeast, but meant multibeast.

It is pretty much click the checkbox...

Yes -- all have to be in place...

Just run MaciASL and check your own DSDT. You don't want other's DSDT anyway (not even from the same computer).

It worked! And I didn't need the Probook Installer, multibeast SSDTs worked just fine.

Now still need to find out which audio and network drivers will have to install.

Thank You!

You should use the ProBook Installer for custom SSDT. Multibeast's SSDTs are for desktop systems which idle at 1600Mhz Laptops generally idle at 800-1200 depending on CPU... In addition, you'll get correct pstates and turbo states for your CPU.

Your panic is caused by VoodooHDA.kext. Remove it.
